The pom-poms are worked over a standard iphone 2.5 by 6 inches approximately, the 2 inch direction, until as plump as you prefer, tied, and then sewn on with a plastic large eye yarn needle.
It takes one and a half skeins of multi-colored yarn, size 7 US circular knitting needles, and a complimenting off white shade of aran yarn.

Cast on 60, work in 2x2 rib for 3 to 4 inches, switch into stockinette for 2 to 3 inches before implementing the off white stripe. Make this stripe roughly  1 1/4 inches, before topping the boggin'off with the variegated yarn for 1 1/2 inches more.

At this point begin the decreasing 8-10 stitches per row until you have only sixteen stitches remaining. Here is where you bind off to leave an opening for hair! You can use the hat for ponytails.
