This is made from Bulky weight novelty yarn and sizes 13 and 15 needles. It required only about 8 balls and a 3o inch zipper that opens on the bottom too. It is a mixture of seed stitch and 3x4 rib with modified leg of mutton sleeves. It is over the knee length and could be worn as a sweater dress if desired. Super Bulky Weight
3.5 oz/64 yds/100g at least 64 yards or more per skein.
Right Side at bodice, underarm and midriff. Notice the 4x4 ribs at the lower half of the front under the seed stitch in jumbo needles at the bodice and the 2x2 rib of the long sleeve. The cap of the sleeve is shaped to harmonize with the bodice, a little above the start of the midriff's seed stitch area. ✶
Front at Bodice, midriff and V-neck. The bust is more prominent than this, I am leaned back.
The zipper here is in cream, much better than black, somewhere like Hancock's probably carries a medium brown to match exactly -- I enjoy the cream and the medium brown almost equally myself.
Super with necklaces. Scarves, hats, boots, even a blouse underneath. This is the back below.
Back: Cast on 56 stitches with size 13 single point needles. Work 4 by 4 rib stitch for 1 inch and change to 15 needle for 25 more inches. Decrease 4 stitches evenly spaced on each side leaving 52 stitches. Work at 52 stitches for 5 inches. Change from rib stitch to [seed stitch (row 1: k1, p1; row 2: p1, k1)] and increase across work 6 stitches evenly spaced. 58 stitches. Work this 9 inches. Bind off on outer edge for armholes on each side of back, 3 stitches for each armhole, one per row per end, 52 stitches. Work even from here for 7 inches. Bind off 12 stitches in center of back neck, than one more stitch on each neck edge at beginning or end of next row (whichever one is at neck edge) three times per side. Work each shoulder separately one more inch and bid off with 17 stitches per shoulder.
Sleeves: With size 13 needle cast on 24 stitches, next row switch to 15 needles and working is 2 x 2 rib stitch work 24 stitches for 4 inches. Increase 2 stitches per edge at this point on next row, keep the ribs matching from the row below as you make the increases. 28 stitches. Work 28 stitches for 4 inches. Increase 2 on each edge as before. 32 stitches. 32 stitches. Work 4 inches of 32 stitches and then increase 4 stitches on each edge. Work these 40 stitches 5 inches before binding off for armhole edge. On each side of armhole edge bind off one stitch 8 times one per row on each edge, leaving 24 stitches to work for two more inches. After completing 2 more inches bind off on a knit row. Make two sleeves.
Front: Cast on 32 stitches with size 13 needle, next row switch to 15 needles, work this in 4 by 4 rib stitch for 23 inches, now... Decrease 4 stitches, two on each end, reducing the 4 by 4 rib to 2 by 4 on each edge. 28 stitches. Change to seed stitch. Bind off for neck from this point in length by binding off two stitches 2 times on three consecutive but different right side rows, at inner neck edge, right side for left front and left side for right front when section of work is facing you. Then, decrease 1 stitch 6 times in the same manner at the neck edge. Work until total length is 40 inches. Bind off for armholes, 1 stitch 3 times (1 per each of the three rows) on three consecutive right side rows. Work until armhole is 7 inches and garment side front is 47 inches, increase 2 stitches on outer edge. Finish by working one more inch at 17 stitches and bind off for shoulder.
Attach zipper to front after sewing shoulder and side seams, and, sleeve seam to a short way past the elbow from the cuff edge. You can attach the sleeve by putting the right side of it to the right side of the shoulder and easing it all around while sewing into place. Where you have left the top of the sleeve open will let you do this fairly easily.
Zipper is here in Medium Brown and Ivory✶
The seed stitch means you don't have to finish the edges any further.
Rib stitch is formed by k4, p4 row 1, 3, 5 and odd number rows in multiple of 8 and p4, k 4 rows 2, 4, 6 and all even numbered rows on the same piece.
