Cowl Neck Sweater

Yarn: 650 to 700 yds synthetic wool.
With size 7 needles cast on 60 stitches, work 1x1 ribbing for 3-4 inches, in stockinette stitch and with size 9 *8 if you feel the stitch is too loose* work for 9 1/2 inches (5' 5" to 5' 7" size medium) increasing 8 stitches gradually 1 or 2 per side seam as you like to do it, before binding off armholes. To bind off at armholes bind off 2 and 1 on each side so you will have bound off six stitches total. Continue to the shoulder until armhole measures 6 to 6 1/2 inches. Bind off for neckline at 5 inches by binding off center 28 stitches, continue binding off one stitch each side every other row for five row until the shoulders have thirteen stitches left.

Back: For the back bind off neckline at 5 1/2 inches by binding off 34 center stitches and binding off one on each edge every row until 13 stitches remain for each shoulder.

For the Sleeves: Cast on 44 stitches, work for 3 inches in 2x2 rib and then change to 9 needles and in stockinette work for 7 inches increasing enough to make 56 stitches about 6 inches up or make three increases of 2 stitches each side sometime after row 4. After 7 inches bind off 3 stitches on each side and then 2 stitches for a total of 10 stitches bound off and 46 stitches remaining on cap. Make the cap by decreasing two stitches on each side every other row after working one inch even on 46. When the stitches remaining on the hook equals 26 stitches. Bind off.

For the Cowl Neck: Cast on 40 stitches with size 7 needle. Work in 1x1 rib for 4 inches, you can use a round size 7 needles and attach the cowl on the first row if you know how. or sew on later. There will be on seam in the back.

Sew side seams, attach shoulders face down and upside down to right side of shoulder, sew, then turn inside out and sew sleeve and side seam in one continuous seam. Attach cowl and to neck edge and finish by sewing back neck seam.
